Adapted from Noel Coward’s Private Lives and remotely filmed for Playhouse on Park
Stars Veanne Cox and Ezra Barnes adapted Coward’s play to fit a modern story of two people quarantined together. Without the ability to perform live on stage, Barnes and Playhouse on Park came to me to film the play on location while preserving the live, theatrical feel for streaming audiences at home.
In this case, cinematographer Alex Zielinski and I could not even be in the room during filming. Instead, we developed a three-camera setup that allowed us to film remotely while keeping a small footprint within the apartment.
While I can’t wait to see plays like Elyot & Amanda get back on stage, I feel we got outside the box and our production streamed to new audiences within and far outside Playhouse on Park’s community in Connecticut. The show was even successful enough to be extended past its original end date."the most successful streaming production by Playhouse on Park to date"
